About Peace Camp 2018

 “Developing the Character Traits of Peacemakers”

When: Monday, July 30th to Friday, August 3rd, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: First Presbyterian Church, 97 South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre (next to Osterhout Library, and across from YMCA)

Who: Children entering first grade through eighth grade in September 2018 are eligible for Peace Camp 2018

What: Peace Camp activities include the following:

  • Arts and Crafts Projects
  • Field Trip and Swimming
  • Communication Strategies
  • Games for a Healthy Body, Mind, and Spirit
  • Yoga ~ Meditation ~ Music Making
  • Peer Mediation and Community-Building Skills
  • Nature Walk
  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack each Day

About the 2018 Camp Directors

Rhonda Lambert enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and spent twenty-one years in civil engineering assignments. She retired into motherhood and began volunteering for her son’s activities, her church, Wyoming Area band parents, Wesley Village and Timber Ridge Nursing Home. She discovered the Peace and Justice Center through Nancy Frey, her fellow board member of the Wilkes-Barre League of Women Voters.
Becky Elfman lives and teaches music in Kingston, Pennsylvania. She is an active musician who sings and plays the organ and piano at various churches and concerts in this area. She comes to Peace Camp with a background in children’s ministry and music education.
