Online Camp meetings to accommodate COVID-19 social distancing guidelines

Meeting Days: 
Week One: “Peaceful bodies, peaceful deeds,” Tuesday, July 14 and Thursday, July 16
Week Two: “Peaceful garden, peaceful world,” Tuesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 23
Week Three: “Peaceful minds, peaceful community,” Tuesday, July 28 and Thursday, July 30

Peace Camp meetings will take place 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:00-2:00 p.m. An informal shared half-hour lunch period will transition between the two sessions.

Meeting will be held online using Zoom. We will send registrants a link to join the Zoom meeting. You will NOT need to set up a Zoom account or input any information except for student’s first name and last name initial.  Please go to Zoom.us for more details about the system.How: 

Who: Children entering first grade through eighth grade in September 2020 are eligible for Peace Camp 2020 

What: Peace Camp activities include the following:

  • Arts and Crafts Projects
  • Communication Strategies
  • Games for a Healthy Body, Mind, and Spirit
  • Yoga ~ Meditation ~ Music Making
  • Peer Mediation and Community-Building Skills
  • Sustainability and Gardens

About the 2020 Camp Directors

Becky Elfman lives and teaches music in Kingston, Pennsylvania. She has a background in children’s ministry and music education and is an active musician who sings and plays the organ and piano at various churches and concerts in this area. She co-led Peace Camp in 2018 and 2019.

Kevin Granahan  is an IT consultant and farmer who has hosted gardening workshops for various children’s groups since returning to the valley in 2016, including the Montessori Garden Club and Peace Camp 2019. He
lives with his son in their ancestral home in West Wyoming.

Joli Mattia has a BS in Rec and Leisure Service Management from East Stroudsburg University and is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.  She has a wealth of experience teaching elementary-aged children and coaching soccer in Middle School. She co-led Peace Camp in 2019.
