About Summer 2023 Peace Camp

“Destined for Peace”

Dates: Monday-Friday, June 19-23, 2023

Times: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily 

Where: Gather Community Space at First Presbyterian Church, 97 South Franklin Street in Wilkes-Barre. 

Who: Children entering Kindergarten through eighth grade in September 2023 are eligible for Peace Camp 2023.

Registration fee:
$125 per child, with scholarships available for families with multiple children attending camp and for those in need of assistance.
 

What: Peace Camp activities include the following:  

  • Arts and Crafts Projects
  • Communication Strategies
  • Games for a Healthy Body, Mind, and Spirit
  • Yoga
  • Tai Chi
  • Nature Walks
  • Peer Mediation
  • Community-Building Skills
  • Sustainability and Gardens   

For most activities, children will be divided into age groups (Kindergarten through 3rd grade and 4th grade through 8th grade). Space is limited to 20 children in each group.

    About the 2023 Camp Director

    Summer Peace Camp 2023 director Brandi Brace has worked in education since 2010, teaching a range of age groups from middle school to college. Her undergraduate degree is in English from Misericordia University in Dallas PA, and her Master’s degree is in Internet and Game Studies from Tampere University in Finland. She has worked as a 3D and texture artist on personal video game design projects, one of which – Cubed – was released on Android and iOS. Brace was born and raised in Hunlock Creek, her hobbies include taking walks with her pets (2 dogs and 5 cats), reading books (especially fantasy), playing video games, cooking, and gardening. She always has another project in mind and is excited to hear what those around her are doing.
